Anniversary Getaway

We just got back from (what seems like) a whirlwind tour of NM! Our trip started in Albuquerque. 8 years ago this summer we had our very first date in the lovely high dessert city. Why not relive that?!
So we started off by going to our same restaurant, the Owl Cafe, for burgers and fries. (This place makes you feel like you are back in the 50s.)
Next, we thought we'd try something new, so we went to the Aquarium and Botanical Gardens (note to self: wear better shoes next time! Ouch!)
Aquariums are always neat because you get to see just how creative our God can get with the colors and shapes of all those slimy creatures! ;) After we found Nemo ;), we walked around the gardens. It was fun how much Devin got into it! He wanted to take every trail and not miss one plant! He's fun. :)
Being a baseball fan (ok ok... baseball lover), our main plan for this trip was going to an Albuquerque Isotopes game. We really enjoyed getting to walk around the ballpark doing the "remember our first time here...". The game was awesome! It included great seats, a great view, high scores, and of course...great company. Reliving our "first date" was so much fun.
The next day (after a little shopping ;) hehe) we headed to Santa Fe. Our favorite place to eat here is the Blue Corn Cafe. We have been going there almost every summer since we started working at camp. This place is worth the trip! After our yummy lunch, we worked our way around the square, then headed to one of the most special places... Blue Haven. If you have been there, you know how amazing it is. If not, trust me when I tell you that this camp is a life changer! The scenery is amazing but the people are...well they are much more than that! We were blessed to end our weekend away visiting and worshiping with these people.

Whew! What a wonderful weekend!! (And did I mention that our hotel had robes. :) )
(Oh the little things in life!)

Get a Sweet Tooth fix in SantaFe :)

3 Years

Can't believe how fast time is going. Seems like yesterday and we were braving the HOT metroplex weather to get married! Since our day was in the middle of the week this year, we just went and had a YUMMY dinner at TripleJ's here in Lubbock (their cream corn is the best!)    :)
We tried to take our yearly picture, but between the dog chasing the light and us trying to beat the camera timer, we didn't get too many good ones. Devin's dinner "selfie" is my favorite picture from the night.
Handsome isn't he ;)!
